When children have been naughty, and are having a hard time changing their pattern of behavior, it is so helpful to tell a story that addresses the situation. A story that gives the child a snapshot of what that type of behavior can lead to.
One interesting technique is actually quite easy to implement. At night as you are putting your child to sleep, you can tell a story about a character, even your child’s favorite stuffed animal, and have that loved character go through the day just as the child did. Replay the day of the child but instead of using the child’s name you use the loved stuffed animal’s name. This becomes a tool for you to teach your child proper behavior skills, helping your child improve their sense of awareness in different situations they may encounter in their day, in a gentle way!
